NEIGRIHMS not to admit COVID patients from other states

SHILLONG: The Director of NEIGRIHMS, DM Thappa, has submitted the protocol for transfer of critically ill non-COVID-19 patients from other states to the institute.
In the protocol submitted to the state chief secretary, Thappa said that only critically ill non-COVID-19 patients, duly certified by the concerned state health authority, can seek treatment at NEIGRIHMS.
The number of accompanying attendants of such critically ill patients should be limited to only one.
Further, at the border, the data of the ambulance, driver, the patient(s) and accompanying person be maintained and certified by the state health authority.
Only non-COVID patients will be accepted in NEIGRIHMS till the coronavirus pandemic is over and attendants of patients coming from other states will need to be quarantined for 14 days as per state government directives.
Meanwhile, the chief secretary on Thursday sent letters to his counterparts in all the NE states informing of the protocol issued by the Director of NEIGRIHMS for admission of only critically ill patients not suffering from COVID-19.
