Disaster management cell to combat coronavirus

SHILLONG: A joint disaster management cell was set up on Friday at Shillong NCC Gp HQ with an objective to have a coordinated employment of NCC volunteers and staff in fight against coronavirus.
The disaster management cell was headed by Gp Cadre of NCC Shillong and DHTE (Director, Higher Technical Organisation).
A coordination meeting, chaired by Brig P M Bali was also held between stakeholders which was attended by DIG Law & Order, Dir DHTE, Health Department representative, State NCC liaison officer and NCC officials.
The meeting stressed that all volunteers will undergo preventive measures, training and usage of PPEs by health department, before being employed. The DHTE also agreed to handover 100 PPE sets to NCC for this task.
The team is optimistic that this joint disaster management mechanism will ensure timely response for fight against coronavirus.
