Time to join hands with govt to fight COVID-19 in state, says Cong

Nongpoh: The Nongpoh Block Congress Committee (NBCC) under the leadership of the local MLA of Nongpoh, Mayralborn Syiem and its president, Plielad Tiewsoh on Saturday donated a cheque of Rs 50,000 towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
The cheque was handed over to the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, RM Kurbah at her office chamber.
Speaking to reporters, Tiewsoh said that though the party through their respective MLAs of Nongpoh and Umroi has done a ‘commendable job’ in providing essential commodities to poor families and their constituency in particular. ‘We feel it time to join hands with the government in the fight against COVID-19 in the state. Therefore, as a responsible party and citizens of the state, the contribution towards the CMRF in the state will further our efforts in providing basic essentials to the needy,’’ he said.
Tiewsoh while lauding the efforts of the District Administration of Ri Bhoi for taking an all out effort in preventing the spread of the virus, further urged the government and the District Administrations to take special initiative in providing transportation to students and citizens of the state who are studying or working outside even after the relaxation, so as to prevent any outbreak of the disease in the near future.
