Assam imports 50,000 PPE kits from China

Guwahati, 15 April: Assam has imported 50,000 personal protection equipment (PPE) kits from China through special cargo flight to boost the protection of health workers engaged in fighting COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

The consignment was received by Assam Health Minister, Dr Himanta Biwa Sarma at Guwahati airport on Wednesday evening. Dr Sarma informed that Assam happened to be the first state in the country to import PPE kits from China directly. He said Government of India too had brought PPE kits from the same manufacturing units in China.

“With the arrival of the consignment, the number of PPE kits at the disposal of the state health department has gone up to a comfortable 1.5 lakh kits,” Health Minister said adding that Assam happened to be first state in the country to import PPE kits.
