Curfew extended, shops to open for four days from today

Shillong: The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills, has promulgated curfew in Shillong agglomeration and adjoining areas from 6 am on Monday till 6am on Sunday while also permitting shops to open for four days from Monday.
Curfew will be enforced in the whole of Municipal and Cantonment areas, all areas under Mawlai and Mawpat Blocks including Census towns, areas under Mylliem Block from Umshyrpi Bridge upto 7th Mile Upper Shillong, Madanrting, Mawblei, Laitkor, Nongkseh, Umlyngka, Lawsohtun, Mawdiangdiang, Diengiong and Siejiong.
All fair price shops under NFSA and non-NFSA, identified groceries, vegetable, fruit, meat vendors and confectionery shops and essential items shops in all localities of Shillong agglomeration will remain open from Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm.
In a statement on Sunday, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, M War, also said that the number of selected shops have gone up to 1804 with 20 mobile units.
MeECL bill collection centres will be opened in the community halls of each locality, in addition to mobile repair shops and service centres in Shillong Agglomeration and adjoining areas, stores of telecom providers in Sohra and Pynursla civil sub-divisions and in all the blocks of East Khasi Hills.
Registered suppliers and retailers of AH & Veterinary department will open for sale of only livestock, poultry and pet feed.
The district administration has asked the Rangbah Shnong and the police to regulate the operation of the shops in their respective localities and villages and to also ensure compliance of social distancing guidelines.
The order also makes wearing of face masks mandatory while banning spitting in public places.
Curfew passes for emergencies can be obtained via online application at www.eastkhasihills.gov.in.
The order also prohibits assembly of five or more persons in public area and premises beyond the individual households.
