TURA: North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, S C Sadhu has instructed all nokmas, sordars and headmen from the district to ensure that all persons who have been directed by the health care personnel to self quarantine remain in their homes for the mandatory quarantine period as directed by the Health authorities.

The order issued on Monday by Sadhu also warned that those violating quarantine norms would be liable for legal action under Section 188 of IPC, 1860 which may lead to punishment with imprisonment up to six months, or with fine which may extend to one thousand or with both. The order also stated that wilful objection to home quarantine by Nokma, Sordar or Headman, family members or villagers would also amount to violation of Section 188 IPC.

Informing that while quarantine centres are still available in the district, the order said that if persons asked by health authorities prefer home quarantine, they should be allowed to do so with strict protocols as explained by the authorities.

Meanwhile in a separate notification, the Deputy Commissioner also informed that all notified grocery shops will be opened from Monday, April 20 to Friday from 8 AM to 1 PM while maintaining all protocols like social distancing, wearing of masks, hand washing in front of shops, restriction on vehicles etc as given earlier.
