Free rice, pulses for beneficiaries

TURA/JOWAI: The government under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yozana (PMGKAY) has released free rice and pulses for AAY and PHH card holders.
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh informed that under the scheme, 5 kg rice per beneficiary per month for two months (April-May) and a kg of pulses per card for the month of April were being distributed from Monday.
Rice and pulses are being delivered by the wholesalers free of cost to every fair price shop centre to be distributed to the beneficiaries as per NFSA, 2013.
The block development officers of Rongram, Dalu and Gambegre under Tura Sadar Division have also been directed to monitor the distribution in their respective blocks so that the objective of providing free ration is achieved in rural areas. All FP shop dealers have also been instructed to display stock signboards and to maintain the timing of opening their shops from 8 am to 4 pm on working days for the convenience of the beneficiaries.
The Deputy Commissioner, Supply, West Janitia Hills has informed that additional allotment of rice and pulses will be distributed free of cost to the beneficiaries from April 20 to April 30.
The DC has directed the government-approved wholesalers to lift the allotted quantity of pulses from the storage godown of Heimon Hinge, Jowai and to comply with doorstep delivery of the commodities to the FPS centre and FPS dealers.
The DC has also instructed the concerned wholesalers and FPS dealers to maintain proper stock and issue register for the same.
