Protocol for Bethany Hospital antenatal cases

SHILLONG: The state government on Monday issued protocol to ensure proper care of antenatal cases from Bethany Hospital in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The protocol is for necessary guidance is based on the advice of medical experts, a statement issued by the Commissioner and Secretary, Health and Family Welfare department said.
On the other hand, the chief secretary clarified that the effective date of registration for people who visited Bethany Hospital is March 24 and not March 22.
According to the protocol on antenatal care, proper data and exact dates of ANC visits to Bethany Hospital is required and patients will be categorised as high risk and low risk.
High- risk patients are those who have been treated by a doctor who has tested positive and low-risk patients are those who have been treated by a doctor who has tested negative.
The patient’s record will be checked against doctor visited and see if consulting doctor has tested positive or negative.
If the patient was in consultation with a doctor who has been tested negative, she will be advised to take precaution and go ahead with the delivery.
If the patient was in consultation with a doctor who has tested positive, all precautionary measures will be taken and patient will be tested and kept under home quarantine.
A system will be put in with Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme where it will guide DMHO to determine high-risk and low-risk cases.
Patients should be treated whether they are tested positive or negative.
Clarification
In a clarification issued on Monday, the chief secretary informed that though initially the effective registration date was announced as March 22, after subsequent investigations it was revealed that March 24 will be the effective date.
The chief secretary stated that home quarantine and registration for the new CORONTINE App is made effective with effect from March 24 and not March 22 as notified earlier and those who visited Bethany Hospital on March 22 and 23 need not observe home quarantine anymore and need not register in the new App.
He requested all those who visited Bethany Hospital on or after March 24 to download the CORONTINE App. He said that for Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh there is no change, besides, the effective date is March 30 as notified earlier.
