New Delhi, April 21 (IANS) After one of its engineers tested positive for Covid-19, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has started thermal screening at the entry point of its office buildings.

The civic body has also decided to make face masks compulsory for entry into its headquarters.

“A wash basin has been placed outside the Palika Kendra for people to wash their hands before entering the building. We are also sanitising every vehicle entering the office premises as well as the parking area,” a senior NDMC official said.

In its efforts to reduce human contact, the civic body has installed toothpicks in all the elevators at the headquarters to press the desired floor number.

The entire NDMC building located near Jantar Mantar in the heart of the national capital was disinfected on Saturday after an engineer working with the civic body tested positive for Covid-19.

According to senior officials in the civic body, the engineer showed symptoms of flu on Thursday and was immediately taken for testing. On Saturday, his reports returned positive.
