Corona care centre vehicle caught with illicit liquor

SHILLONG: A government vehicle belonging to a corona care centre in Garo Hills was used for transporting illicit liquor.
Police had on Friday intercepted one Mahindra Thar Jeep (ML-01-6915) belonging to Agriculture department at Damalgre, South West Garo Hills.
The vehicle was requisitioned for corona care centre, Tura, West Garo Hills and was driven by Julyton A Sangma (24).
During the search of the vehicle, 99 packets of illicit local-made liquor were recovered and seized.
The vehicle had a car pass due to curfew and lockdown. South West Garo Hills SP Rithuraj Ravi said the police are probing the matter to ascertain how a government vehicle was used for transportation of illegal liquor.
According to police, four people travelled in the vehicle and they were released on PR bond.
