SHILLONG: The state Education department has announced the pilot launch of the e-scholar portal http://niceinfotech.co.in to enable all secondary and higher secondary level students to access study materials of all subjects barring Modern Indian Language (MIL) as per the mandated MBoSE syllabus.
Making the announcement on Monday, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui stated that since the majority of the population in the state is deprived of internet connectivity, the portal is meant only to keep the students engaged during the lockdown period and is not a substitute to classroom teaching. “This portal is to engage the students who have internet and other facilities. It is not a replacement to classroom teaching. This is one portal where all study materials are as per MBoSE syllabus”, he said.
The e-scholar portal is a one-stop digital content repository developed under the Supporting Human Capital Development and will enable all secondary and higher secondary students to access comprehensive and interactive study and learning multimedia material, for all subjects, barring MIL.
The portal also has reference books, assessment tools, academic articles and many other features will be added subsequently.
The students of the state are advised and encouraged to access the portal and make use of the same for their everyday learning and to keep them updated with their studies, during the lockdown period, Rymbui added.
The department is also in touch with all schools regarding the e-scholar portal through the district and state teams under the Meghalaya School Improvement Programme.
The portal is in its trial phase and further developments will be updated as and when required. Schools have been asked to log into the portal and share feedback and suggestions at piu1shcdm@gmail to enable the department to further streamline and enhance the portal.
