SHILLONG: With the growing concern with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic, PT Sawkmie, Mawlai legislator, along with the officials of Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) inspected the Marten dumping ground at Block 13, Mawlai Nongkwar on Monday.
Sawkmie said that foul smell emanated from the dumping ground which has affected areas of Mawiong Umjapung, Mawiongrim, NEHU, Umjaiur and Mawlai Nongkwar (Block 13), adding that flies have infested the dumping ground and are venturing into people’s homes nearby.
He also said that wastes from hospitals are being discarded at the dumping ground which is a matter of concern. (Contd on P-10)
