Poisonous mushroom claims one more life

JOWAI: One more person died on Monday night from wild mushroom poisoning.
The victim, identified as 14-year-old Marriaba Khonglah, died at NEIGRIHMS in Shillong. With this, the poisonous mushroom death toll climbed to six.
Earlier, a family from Lamin village under Amlarem sub-division in West Jaintia Hills consumed wild mushrooms collected from a nearby forest.
A week after Khonglah’s siblings, Armstrong and sister Synran, passed away, the minor girl also breathed her last in the same hospital around 11.40 pm on Monday, informed Lamin village headman Golden Gashnga.
Khonglah is the sixth victim from the same family. The other victims are Lapynshai Khonglah (18), Katdilia Khonglah and Morison Dhar.
Morison’s son Dimah Khonglah (7) and other two brothers are undergoing treatment.
