SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has urged the state government to open ways and means to bring back Khasis who are stranded in other parts of India.
In a statement issued here, the union said that the stranded people include students, job seekers and people working outside the state.
The union said that the persons stranded there have informed the KSU leaders that they are struggling during the lockdown and want to come back to the state.
) General secretary, Donald Thabah said that the people narrated their problems to them stating that they were harassed by house owners for rent, there are others who informed that food is not sufficient and that they get food once a day and are racially abused as “Corona”. In this connection, the union has requested the government to assist the persons stranded outside the state and to bring them back.
Thabah said that the government should ensure that the persons should get themselves examined before they leave the respective state and also have a proper screening when they enter the state and to place them in quarantine centres for 28 days.
