Revenue dept spends over Rs 3.3 cr on COVID-19 fight

SHILLONG: The state Revenue department has released Rs 3,33,43,275 to meet the challenges arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
Speaking to newsmen here on Thursday, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Kyrmen Shylla said that the money has been released to different departments.
To a query on how much more will the department shell out for the fight against the pandemic, Shylla said, “We will do so as per the requirements and laid down norms”.
“I hope the pandemic ends soon but if there is requirement we will release additional funds,” he added. Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong had said that the state is ready to spend upto Rs 100 crore to deal with the crisis.
Ex-gratia for lightning victims
Shylla also informed that the department has paid ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of Phuldarish Marwein and Horbinus Jyrwa, residents of Mawkadiang village in West Khasi Hills, who had died in a lightning strike.
