SHILLONG: The lockdown coupled with curfew have made it difficult for local truck drivers and handymen to make ends meet, president of Mylliem Lum Local Truck Association, Egenstar Kurkalang, said.
The office bearers of Hima Khyrim and Mylliem Lum Local Truck Association held an emergent meeting on Saturday to discuss the problems faced by local trucks that transport stones and sand to Shillong and its outskirts.
In a statement, he said that the state government adopted a bias attitude by permitting certain construction works, however, letting restrictions remain on transportation of sand and stone
The meeting decided to appeal to the government to allow all trucks to ply and not to resort to partiality.
Kurkalang said that the district administration should take the matter seriously.
