SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Delhi Unit, has expressed hope that the government will look into the matter and issue the proper guidelines for the welfare of the state residents in Delhi.
In a statement issued here, the union said that a news report came up where the Meghalaya House in Delhi has accused the KSU Delhi Unit for misinterpreting and stating factual errors regarding the recent incident where a girl, who was a victim of harassment in Haryana, was refused entry into Meghalaya House.
The union stated that the victim was rescued by the Haryana Police and was escorted from the border by the North East Assistance Team (NEAT) right throughout, nullifying the flouting protocol as there were passes being handed over for exceptional cases and had also undergone the mandatory check-up before entering Delhi
The union also referred to the Meghalaya House in Kolkata, which has done a commendable work, by going out of the way into helping the needy during such situations while adhering to the protocol.
“The KSU strongly objects the stand of the officials in Meghalaya House, because such instances had also happened in the past, and instead it should have taken a proactive role in helping the weary state residents,” the union stated.
The union also informed that the ARC, Meghalaya House, acted in a very unprofessional manner by refusing to acknowledge the police team about the denial of entry into the house and in an unofficial way, they had to send it through other sources to pass this information to the accused of the victim.
What irked the KSU was that the woman was asked to be kept in quarantine centre in Haryana, which the union objected as she is a victim of harassment and not a COVID-19 patient and the place was crowded with migrant workers.
