SHILLONG: Police have clarified that the returnees from Rajasthan are a mixed group and not non-indigenous people alone.
In response to fake news in the social media that only non-indigenous people were brought from Rajasthan, the police, on Friday, said it is not true as the group was mixed consisting of Khasis, Garos and non-indigenous persons who were studying in Rajasthan.
They were mostly students studying outside preparing for NEET Exams and the coaching institutes from Rajasthan themselves arranged for their travel, the police added.
Police have cautioned people to refrain from spreading as well as uploading of fake news online without verifying the authenticity of the content.
