Nongpoh: Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh on Friday carried out a spot inspection of the check point at 13th Mile, Byrnihat to ensure that it is fully equipped to detect any COVID-19 suspected patient who might enter the state.
The Speaker was accompanied by Health Minister AL Hek, MLAs Renikton L Tongkhar, George B. Lyngdoh, Mayralborn Syiem, Jason Sawkmie Mawlong and Sosthenes Sohtun and Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah, besides others.
The team reviewed the facilities and manpower availability at the check point and interacted with the frontline health workers and police personnel posted there.
Speaking to media persons after the visit, Lyngdoh expressed satisfaction over the preparations put in place by the state government. “I am happy to know that all incoming people will be subjected to thorough health screening at the check point”, he said.
Meanwhile, with regards to re-opening of the Bethany Hospital Outreach at Nongpoh, Hek said it can only be re-opened after completion of all formalities and advisories issued by the Health department and necessary certification from the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board.
