Nongpoh: Leaders of the Nongpoh Town Committee (NTC) along with village leaders of Mawroh and Nongkhrah on Saturday inspected the site for a morning market to assist local farmers in selling their produce and provide the residents of Nongpoh areas with fresh produce.
General Secretary of the NTC, Rayonald Kharkamni while talking to The Shillong Times informed that CTS Memorial Hat at Nongpoh has become congested and creates huge traffic snarls to daily commuters. ‘In order to ease congestion and allow people to maintain social distancing, we have collectively decided to shift the morning market to Mawspeng ground, located on the village border of Mawroh and Nongkhrah,’ Kharkamni said.
He also informed that the new market, which is a kilometre away from NH 6, will be made operational soon. The members of the Market Management Committee will consist of the headmen and general secretary of Mawroh and Nongkhrah village as well from the Durbar Raid, the NTC and the district administration of Ri Bhoi.
