Shillong:  Wine shops and bonded warehouses in East Khasi Hills will open in selected locations with strict compliance to certain conditions, stated an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Khasi Hills on Sunday.
The order will come into effect from May 18 to May 23 from 9 am to 4 pm daily.
However, this order will not include stores located close to international borders, narrow roads and lanes which can compromise the guideline on social distancing and areas with high transmission risk.
The Deputy Commissioner (Excise) has also capped the quantity of liquor per person. ‘Sale of liquor shall not exceed three litres of foreign liquor or wine and four litres of beer per customer,’ said the order.
Wine store and bonded warehouse owners were also asked to ensure customers follow social distancing, avoid overcrowding and assembly of five or more persons in the shop vicinity, to maintain respiratory etiquette and to strictly follow all other directives and advisories issued by the government.
