NONGSTOIN: One of the oldest Hima in Khasi Hills, Hima Nongmynsaw, has been reconstituted by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC). The Council has elected Ploming Syiem Nongbak as the acting Syiem and formed the Executive Dorbar of the Hima.
The Nongmynsaw Syiemship of the Hima, on Wednesday, announced that Raidmynsaw was no longer recognised as per the order of the KHADC dated March 6, 2017. The Hima informed the people of Nongmynsaw that there will be no more Sirdarship, thus the chairman or the Sirdar of Raidmynsaw has no right to function according to the order.
Acting Syiem of Hima Nongmynsaw Ploming Syiem Nongbak told pressmen here that there are people led by Hindro Samakha, who have misled the populace of Nongmynsaw Syiemship. “Till date he claims to be the Sirdar of Raidmynsaw, but all of his claims are only for personal benefit,” Nongbak said.
He clarified that Nongmynsaw falls under Syiemship and not Sirdarship and every decision from now on will be taken by the Acting Syiem along with the Executive Dorbar of the Hima.
He requested the people to approach the Executive Dorbar or the Acting Syiem with regard to confusion in matters relating to registration of land, paddy field, etc., by the people under Nongmynsaw Syiemship.
