GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal called up his Nagaland counterpart, Neiphiu Rio on Saturday with request to re-open Assam –Nagaland boundary in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts to facilitate resumption of cross-border movement of people and goods.
Nagaland government has sealed the boundary with Assam in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts in the wake of detection of a few persons from these two districts to be infected with COVID-19 positive in the quarantine centre at Jorhat as well as spike in COVID-19 positive cases in Assam.
Sonowal has apprise his Nagaland counterpart that re-opening of the inter-state boundary will facilitate movements of tea garden workers as well as building materials for the ongoing construction works in the border areas.
A communique issued by Assam CM’s Public Relation cell has claimed that Nagaland Chief Minister has responded positively to the request from the Assam CM for re-opening of the inter-state boundary in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts of Assam.
