COVID cases continue to increase in Assam, tally upto 346

GUWAHATI: Seventeen more persons tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Assam late Saturday night taking the state’s tally of COVID patients upto 346.

Out of these 17 patients, four are from Chirang, four from Tinsukia, one from Goalpara while eight others tested positive in Silchar Medical College and Hospital including three from Cachar, three from Hailakandi and two from Tripura.

Meanwhile in view of sharp increase in number of COVID-19 positive patients in the state, Assan Health Department is considering to covert the Ayurvedic Hospital at Jalukbari here to a COVID-19 care hospital.  Health Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of State for Health, Pijush Hazarika and Principal Secretary of Health, Samir Sinha visited the Ayurvedic Hospital to take stock of facilities there.
