SHILLONG: Meghalaya Government has decided not to impose any salary deferment for the month of May.
Informing this on Wednesday, Chief minister, Conrad Sangma said that the government had earlier deferred the salaries due to very less devolution of taxes in view of the adversity precipitated by COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said that the biggest commercial market of the state, Iewduh or Bara Bazar would continue to remain closed till further notice.
However, Government has decided to allow opening of textile shops, travel agencies and automobile showrooms.
Health Minister, AL Hek informed that as of now 6553 people in the state had been tested for COVID 19 and results of 395 samples were being awaited.
