SHILLONG: A city-based private bank deducted the aid provided to a beneficiary causing inconvenience to him.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, the complainant, Rupak Chandra Paul alleged that Axis Bank Laitumkhrah branch has deducted amount from his account on the grounds of maintenance charges.
The complainant lamented that the deduction has been made from the monetary aid provided to his mother by the Assam government.
“She had come here before the lockdown for treatment and was stuck here. I had given my account number for this purpose (government aid) as she doesn’t hold any account. When I went to withdraw the amount, I found that the balance was deducted and the balance showed negative,” he alleged.
Paul added that when he went to the manager to narrate his ordeal, the latter refused to render a solution.
“I went to the manager and complained with regard to this issue but he said that he can’t help as they have deducted the amount for not maintaining sufficient balance in my account. I then requested him to reverse that amount and deduct later as this amount is from the government, but he refused to do so and said it is against the bank’s rule,” the complainant rued.
