East Garo Hills extends lockdown and night curfew till June 8

TURA: The District Magistrate of East Garo Hills, Swapnil Tembe, has extended the lockdown and night curfew in the entire district under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and the Regulation 3 of Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulation, 2020 from 5 a.m of 1 June till 5 a.m of 8 June thereby prohibiting operations of weekly and regular markets, tea and food stalls, saloons, beauty parlours, commercial, financial and educational institutions, movement of private vehicles except those with valid car passes and the exempted categories, movement of individuals between 9 p.m and 5 a.m and gathering of 5 or more persons in public places,  movement of persons above 65 years of age with co-morbidities, pregnant women and children below the age of 10 years, etc.

The order issued in this regard also said that wearing of masks and maintaining social distancing in public places and offices is compulsory.

The grocery retail stores, vegetables, meat, fruits, milk outlets, animal feeds and agriculture machinery outlets, wholesalers, hardware stores and electrical shops, functioning of shops selling, repairing and serving of mobile phones, computers, accessories as well as mobile phone recharging centres, stationery shops, motor repairing workshops, dry cleaning and liquor shops will remain open from 8 a.m to 2 p.m.

The operation of public transport in the district will be regulated by the District Transport Officer and allowing 25% of vehicles to operate with 50% capacity. The movement of private vehicles will be allowed on odd and even number basis thereby allowing the movement of vehicles with odd numbers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and those with even numbers on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. However, the inter-state and inter-district movement of vehicles will remain prohibited.

The other permitted activities will remain the same as notified earlier.
