Curfew extended in 3 dists

TURA/NONGPOH: In continuation with the earlier order, curfew has been extended in three districts of the state.
In West Garo Hills District, the curfew has been imposed from 6 am of June 1 to 6 am of June 8.
The curfew which comes into force with immediate effect has the same prohibitions and exemptions issued earlier such as closing of all educational institutions, but expected to maintain the academic schedule through online teaching, closing of all places of worship, prohibiting the assembly of 5 (five) or more persons in all public places, prohibiting movement of individuals between 9 pm to 5 am in the entire district and no plying of vehicles other than essential commodities.
The order also stated the closure of all weekly markets and regular markets, commercial and financial establishments in West Garo Hills including those in the Meghalaya-Assam Border.
Further, as mentioned in the earlier order, grocery stores, vegetables, fruits, milk and meat outlets, animal feed and agriculture machinery spare parts and repairs shops will continue to remain open.
Meanwhile, the permission for the operation of private transport within the district to the extent of 50 per cent and plying on odd/even basis from 8 am to 5 pm will continue with the odd registration number on odd day and even registration number on even day. Four-wheelers will have maximum two persons besides the vehicle driver and for two-wheelers, one pillion rider, either female or child below the age of 12 years is allowed as per the new order.
Similarly, in East Garo Hills the curfew has extended from 5 am of June 1 to 5 am of June 8.
However, the grocery retail stores, liquor shops will remain open from 8 am to 2 pm.
The night curfew has been extended in Ri Bhoi district from June 1 to 15 from 7 pm to 6 am as a preventive measure to contain the spread of coronavirus.
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays transport vehicles with yellow passes and non-transport vehicles with even registration numbers can ply while transport vehicles with pink passes and non-transport vehicles with odd registration numbers can ply on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Vehicles are to strictly utilise only 50 per cent seating capacity i.e. two passengers for 4 wheelers and no pillion rider is allowed for 2 wheelers.
