Special trains for stranded migrant workers
Khliehriat: The DC, East Jaintia Hills has informed stranded migrant workers in the district that 200 special trains have started running across the country since Monday. These services will be in addition to Shramik special trains and 30 Special AC trains and only passengers with confirmed RAC tickets shall be allowed to enter the railway station and board the train. As per Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines all passengers shall be compulsorily screened and asymptomatic passengers shall be allowed to enter and board the train.
Leopard cat rescued
SHILLONG: A leopard cat was rescued by a few people residing near the temporary Assembly building, Rilbong on Monday.
Later, after the matter was informed to the forest department, the latter took custody of the animal.
“Now the cub is at Lady Hydari Park and the animal was not well when it was handed over to us”, a forest official said.
Lookout for eloped couple
SHILLONG: A minor girl has eloped with a 22-year-old man on March 3 around 4 pm from Lapalang, Shillong.In this regard, a complaint has been registered in Rynjah Police Station.
The minor has eloped with Nilanjan Choudhary.The girl is of fair complexion, black hair and 5.2 ft tall. She was wearing grey track pants track and black jacket and grey slipper.
The police have appealed that any person having knowledge of their whereabouts to immediately inform the police.
Telemedicine centre soon in Shillong
SHILLONG: Ramakrishna Mission has announced that it would start a telemedicine centre at the dispensary in Laitumkhrah, Shillong.
In order to revive effective teaching and training in these difficult times, computer training and language courses are being restarted from June 8 with a hybrid model of learning, a blend of online and offline methods.
The same model will also be used for classes and courses for yoga, values education, personality development, drawing/painting etc.
