Schools, colleges to reopen only in zero COVID-19 situation: Himanta

GUWAHATI:  Schools and Colleges in Assam will be reopened only after there is no further COVID-19 case in the state and there will be no need of quarantine centres. The education institutions in the state like in rest of the country have remained closed since March 25 last.

This was stated by state Health, Education, Finance, PWD etc. Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma during his stock-taking visit to Sivasagar district to make hands on assessment of COVID-19 situation in the district, according to a communiqué issued by the DIPRO, Sivasagar.

Emerging out of a review meeting with senior officials of the health, police, PWD and Education departments on COVID-19 pandemic in Sivasagar on Friday night, the minister, Dr Sarma told media that, “Schools and colleges in the state will reopen only after the State registers zero COVID-19 cases and there will be no quarantine centres.”
