Body found
SHILLONG: The body of an unknown male (20-25 years) has been found at a waiting shed in 7th Mile, Upper Shillong on Thursday. After formalities, the body was sent for post mortem at Civil Hospital shillong and his body is kept at the hospital morgue for identification. The deceased has black hair with swarthy complexion. His height is approximately 5.4 ft and he was wearing a black pant, blue jeans jacket and black t-shirt. He is of medium built. Anyone having information in identifying the deceased may contact the Shillong PCR at 0364-2222214.

BSF extends relief to VDP
SHILLONG: BSF Meghalaya Frontier recently distributed ration to Village Defence Party (VDP) members at Umsyiem, Kongwang and Umkrem in East Khasi Hills. During the event, Kuldeep Saini, IG BSF Meghalaya exhorted the members for helping the troops prevent illegal movement at the border during the pandemic.

DC’s action sought on faulty ATM
TURA: Failure of an SBI branch manager to take action with regard to a complaint over a malfunctioning ATM has prompted the GSU from Ampati in South West Garo Hills to complain against the official to the Deputy Commissioner. According to the union, the ATM and the updating machine installed at the SBI Branch in Ampati have been malfunctioning for the last few months and a complaint in this regard was made to the branch manager. However the union claimed that the official neither took notice of the complaint nor took steps to restore the faulty machines. ‘The branch manager is not looking after his responsibilities and has also ignored our complaints,” union president, Salman D Sangma said. The union urged the DC to intervene and to direct the official to either repair the malfunctioning machines or to replace them with new ones as early as possible.

Notice to arms licence holders
TURA: The West Garo Hills District Magistrate has directed license holders owning more than two firearms in the district to retain only two firearms and deposit the rest to the nearest police station or a licensed dealer within one year from the commencement of the Arms (Amendment) Act, 2019.

Repair of mobile towers
SHILLONG: Members of the FKJGP Damal A’sim unit in West Garo Hills on Friday urged Jio service provider to immediately repair their mobile towers which have stopped functioning for the last four weeks. The federation said that all the three towers of Jio at Dipogre, Dalnigre and Nengchongre have not been functioning due to which users are compelled to switch to other providers.

Restriction of heavy vehicles
WILLIAMNAGAR: In view of the ongoing repairing works at Rongjeng-Mangsang A’”dokgre road, the Executive Engineer, PWD, Roads, East Garo Hills, issued a notification restricting the plying of heavy vehicles from 4 June onwards. According to the notification, the plying of heavy vehicles on the road has been restricted for a period of 14 days.
