Aadhaar update for PMGKY benefits
SHILLONG: As many as 323 establishments have paid Electronic Challan cum Return (ECR) and they are eligible for PMGKY benefits from March to May this year. KK Srivastav, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Shillong, said 3,215 employees of the establishments could not get PMGKY benefits due to non-seeding of their Aadhaar. Hence, all employers who are eligible for PMGKY benefits and have paid ECR from March to May this year should update Aadhaar of their employees at the earliest to get PMGKY benefits. The exempted establishments such as NEEPCO and Meghalaya Apex Bank have also settled 324 COVID-19 claims and disbursed Rs 4.54 crore.

Consent before holding weddings
MAWKYRWAT: Two days after the state government gave the go-ahead for weddings at religious places, South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo said the concerned parties for a wedding should obtain permission from the office of the deputy commissioner. Meanwhile, in another order, the DC informed that the market timing at Mawkyrwat market has been rescheduled from 9 am to 4:30 pm.

City eye hospital reopens today
SHILLONG: Eye care hospital Bawri Netralaya, an institution under JN Bawri Trust, will be functional from Thursday, a statement said. The management of the hospital has informed that it is prepared to aid the state in the fight against the pandemic. The head of Bawri Netralaya, Dr. Sailesh Kumar, said that the staff are well equipped and ready to serve the patients.

India Post special ATM cover
SHILLONG: The Department of Posts has released a special cover to commemorate the milestone of 1,000 ATMs of India Post. The special cover – ‘1000 India Post ATMs’ – was simultaneously released in Bengaluru and Shillong via live streaming. During the lockdown period, India Post ATMs have supported as many as 14,46,419 transactions amounting to around Rs 400 crore.

Child protection from online crimes
SHILLONG: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Meghalaya, in collaboration with International Justice Mission, Kolkata, and International Center for Missing and Exploited Children, organised an e-workshop on ‘Child Protection & Safety Measures from Online Crime during COVID-19’, a statement said on Wednesday.  The workshop, which focused on the general scenario of digital exploitation of children, was attended by police officials and other line departments of the state. A message from Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was also highlighted during the workshop.

Winners of Project Star competition
TURA: The East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner’s office has declared the winners of Project Star competition and the distribution of prizes will be held at the office’s multipurpose hall on Friday. First prize winners of COVID-19 video song competition are Margaritha of Terrace Gitim (English category) and Band the Gabriel of Nokgil A’”we localities of Williamnagar (Garo category). Besides these, other participants who bagged prizes in different events include Wanshanbok Marak, Adelrico Marak, Cherian R Sangma, Blazebirth Lawren, Ranggira R Marak and Titus R Sangma.

Registration for pet shops
KhliehriaT: The East Jaintia Hills District Deputy Commissioner has informed people operating pet shops and dog breeding establishments to procure a certificate of registration from the State Animal Welfare Board of Meghalaya. “Non-compliance of this order will attract action against the violators under appropriate provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 and rules made there under,” a statement said on Wednesday.
