SHILLONG: Global Indian Social Welfare Forum has alleged that the residents in the city have been wrongly categorised when the census was conducted to issue the family identity cards under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
Writing to the deputy commissioner (Supply) to lodge a complaint against wrong categorisation of family identity cards, general secretary of the forum, RG Pradhan, said that the families that fall under the NFSA have been given non-NFSA status whereas those who fall under non-NFSA have been categorised as NFSA and they are enjoying the facilities.
Pradhan also asked the DC (Supply) as to what should be the monthly income for the APL/non-NFSA and BPL/NFSA, adding that steps will be taken against the complaints of the BPL/NFSA residents in the Bishnupur locality
He further alleged that there have been complaints where some fair price shops in Bishnupur and Last Stop area demand EPIC despite having ration cards.
He urged the DC (Supply) to look into the matter and to check that consumers are not harassed by the fair price shops and cooperatives.
