Ri Bhoi rape victim’s house vandalised

NONGPOH: In a shocking turn of events, the house of a disabled victim, who was allegedly raped by Lurstarwell Rani in Jirang area of Ri Bhoi, was reportedly vandalised by the family members of Lurstarwell on Sunday night.
The accused, Lurstarwell Rani, has been arrested and forwarded to Ri Bhoi District Court following a complaint filed by the mother of the victim with Patharkhmah Police Outpost on June 9.
Sources from the Ri Bhoi Police informed that after an FIR was filed against the accused, the family members of Lustarwell had threatened the victim’s family with dire consequences.
On this ground, the police suspected that the vandalisation was the work of the family members of the accused.
During the time of vandalisation of the house, the victim and her family members were at her grandparent’s house, sources said.
