TURA: Criminals behind a spate of bike thefts in West Garo Hills District have been nabbed by police from Damal Asim village on Monday leading to the seizure of fake guns, daggers, tools and recovery of two stolen motorcycles.
The breakthrough came through thanks to alert villagers who tipped off police about the two gang members in the area.
An early-morning raid at the home of one of the suspects led to the arrest of the two criminals.
The raid, as per sources, was conducted at 3 in the morning.
The arrest also led police to identify that a larger network of criminals was operating with the arrested duo in stealing two-wheelers.
“The case has been registered and is being investigated. We are trying to nab the other members of the same gang,” informed West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, MGR Kumar.
