GUWAHATI:  A Guwahati court has issued a warrant of arrest against one Garga Chatterjee of Kolkata and instructed office-in-charge Chetla Police Station, Kolkata, West Bengal to arrest the accused person and produce before the court on or before July 3 next.

The Judge also directed Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, West Bengal to execute the warrant of arrest against Garga Chatterjee and ensure his production before the court at the earliest.

A case has been registered against Garga Chatterjee in Assam for his ‘derogatory’ comment in social media against founder of Ahom Kingdom in Assam, Swargadeu Sukapha.

Earlier, at the instruction of Assam Chief Minister, a team of Assam Police led by a Superintendent of Police (Crime) went to Kolkata last week to arrest and bring Garga Chatterjee here. But the Assam Police team had to return without arresting the accused person because of non-cooperation from West Bengal state government.
