3 district councils in Meghalaya to meet on June 29 to discuss finances

SHILLONG: The CEM of  Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Titostarwell Chyne said that the Council would have a meeting with the Autonomous District Councils of Jaintia Hills and Garo Hills on June 29 to discuss on the finances of the ADCs.

There were several questions on Finance, Mines/Mineral and Revenue which were answered by Deputy CEM Gigur Myrthong. After several rounds of questions, Chyne said that the three ADCs would discuss some crucial financial aspects.

During the question hour on the second day of the Budget session on Thursday, Deputy Chief Executive Member of KHADC, Gigur Myrthong said the total amount of Revenue collected during the year 2019-20 is Rs 17,87,13,074.

To a supplementary query posed by Independent MDC P.N. Syiem, he said that Rs 25,54,069 had been collected as Land revenue and Rs 2, 35, 68, 611 was from the Forest department.

Again, Congress MDC, Ronnie Lyngdoh questioned on the amount spent by the Council on salaries of the staff and employees, MDCs, to which Myrthong said it is Rs 4,50,00,000 in one month.

Further, Myrthong informed that the revenue from the major mineral is Rs 1, 53, 00,000 and minor mineral is Rs 5 crore.
