KHADC explores ways to improve financial situation

SHILLONG: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) deliberated on exploring ways and means to improve the finances of the Council.

Replying to a motion on strengthening and safeguarding the financial position of the council moved by Independent MDC P.N. Syiem, Deputy CEM Gigur Myrthong said that the Council would monitor the financial position to ensure that the salaries of the employees and the MDCs could be paid regularly.

Syiem stated that the state government should duly release the share of mines and minerals to the Council. He observed that the grim COVID-19 situation should not affect the salaries of the employees. He added that over hundreds of trucks transporting coal and said that the leakage of revenue in relation to coal should be plugged. We do not want to end up like JHADC and GHADC”, he said.

The employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) have been deprived of their salary for almost 2 year and 7 months respectively.
