Hek lauds citizens for COVID-19 fight

MAWKYRWAT: Health Minister AL Hek, on Thursday, said that the effective fight of the state against COVID-19 was the result of the cooperation of community volunteers and village authorities.
The health minister along with the Ranikor MLA Pius Marwein and Director of Health Services (DHS), Dr A War and other district officers inspected the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Rangthong village and the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Ranikor, South West Khasi Hills.
Speaking to media persons after the inspection at Rangthong PHC, Hek thanked the frontline health workers and the cooperation of the villages and credited them highly for decrease in the number of cases in the state.
“I want to thank all the Rangbah Shnong, office bearers and the citizens for the cooperation,” Hek said.
Asked whether South West Khasi Hills is prepared to deal with COVID-19 outbreak, Hek said that the Health department is ready to deal with the virus.
Hek said that he was apprised of need for water connectivity, generator, fencing and expansion of the Rangthong PHC.
He assured that the department will look into the matter.
