Lookout for accused in Bakur case

SHILLONG: West Jaintia Hills Police is looking for the headman and an elder of Bakur village who are allegedly absconding after assaulting and tonsuring a woman recently.
West Jaintia Hills Police SP, Bikram Marak said that the police are continuously raiding the places where they could be possibly hiding.
“ We are trying our best to catch them,” the SP said.
The SP has instructed the Investigation Officer and other officers to properly supervise the case.
Earlier this month, the High Court of Meghalaya had rejected the anticipatory bail applications of the headman and secretary of Bakur village, Dawki, West Jaintia Hills.
The district police has arrested two persons allegedly involved in the assault and tonsuring the 29-year-old woman of Bakur village near Dawki border.
The incident happened on May 31.
As per the FIR, the woman was assaulted by several persons, including Bobby Lamin, Jennifer Sumer and Donstan D Khonglah, who are also the executive members of the Bakur Dorbar Shnong.
The victim was able to file a complaint with the help of Seng Samla Shnong on June 4.
