SHILLONG: Chairman of State Planning Board and MLA/MDC, Nongkrem Constituency, Lambor Malngiang, on Monday said that the state government is making concerted efforts to develop the interior roads of the state.
Malngiang was speaking at a foundation-laying ceremony for construction of road at Madanryting.
The programme was attended by Chief Engineer (NH) PWD (Roads), BP Marak, officials of PWD Roads and members of the Dorbar Shnong Madanrting.
Speaking on the occasion, Malngiang also said that a strong road communication system is a must for economic development of a state.
Stating that this road will help boost the livelihood opportunities of the residents of the area, he exhorted the residents to cooperate with the department so that the road is completed within time without any hindrance.
According to the chief engineer (NH), the 571-metre road will be constructed from Community Hall, Mawblei, to PWD Road at Block C Madanryting at a sanctioned amount of 3.83 crore.
