SHILLONG: Two organisations — the KSU and FKJGP — have extended their support to the Dorbar Shnong of Lawsohtun.
In a statement issued here, the union’s general secretary, Donald Thabah, said residents of Lawsohtun are being summoned frequently by the police following the assault incident.
Stating that the residents are apprehensive, he said that the union found it unacceptable to disturb the residents and criticise the attempt of the police to randomly arrest the Lawsohtun youths.
The union lauded the Dorbar Shnong of Lawsohtun for its courage and wisdom to protect the residents of Lawsohtun and also to file an FIR against the editor of The Shillong Times, Patricia Mukhim.
The union has also urged the Khasi community and the various Dorbar Shnong to support the Dorbar Shnong of Lawsohtun.
Criticising the Khasis who accuse their own community without fact-checking, Thabah said the Facebook comments of Mukhim had distressed the Khasi community.
The FKJGP central body was apprehensive that Mukhim’s post would bring about communal tension in the state and, at the same time, endangering the Khasis studying and working outside the state.
