GUWAHATI: Central Government has decided to set up the first Bamboo Industrial Park in the northeast at Dima Hasao District for tapping the immense potential of bamboo sector in the state.

Once completed, the Park, covering an area of 75 hectares, would contribute to the overall economic development of the state apart from developing the bamboo based industries. The step for setting up the Park has been taken at the initiative of DoNER Ministry following the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, works were going on for setting up the ethanol production unit at Numaligarh Refinery for a total amount of Rs 1500 crore as a special initiative of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Both the unit and the park would immensely benefit the bamboo growers of the state while encouraging setting up of bamboo based industries and attracting the youth towards bamboo sector.
