Lockdown extended in border villages of Ri Bhoi

Nongpoh: The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, RM Kurbah, has imposed lockdown in the border areas of the district with effect from 6 am of Monday up to 6 am of July 20.
The lockdown will be effective in the border villages of Byrnihat, Khanapara, Jorabat – Baridua, Ampatama, Umshru Sukhoinijira lewmawroh, Bakhlapara, Hawla, Jimbrigaon, Lyngkhung, Patgaon, Umsen, Jyrmang, Bernongsai Nongkhlaw, Bernongsai Nongspung, Umsaliang, Gunapati, Mairapur Nongkyllang, Rani Jirang, Umshalani, Ranibari, Balakhawa, New Balakhawa, Bilpara, Halher, Akhoinijira, Garobhanga and Ulubari.
As per the order, any assembly or gathering of five or more persons in public areas and premises beyond the individual household is prohibited as well as operation of public and private transport all along the inter-state border including operation of markets and commercial establishments and movement of individuals strictly prohibited in the above areas.
For funeral service, not more than twenty persons will be allowed to attend. However, the order will not affect the arrangement of fair price shops (FPS), identified wholesale traders and local retailers which shall open as per a schedule which will be released from time to time.
The local headmen in coordination with the Ri Bhoi Police will regulate the operation of shops in their respective localities and villages and also to ensure due compliance to the advisories of the Health department with special and strict reference social distancing norms concerning COVID-19 situation.
