KHLIEHRIAT: With the surge in COVID-19 cases across the state, the East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has issued a slew of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for returnees entering the state through Ratacherra, EJH.
The DC has made it mandatory for returnees to visit www.meghalayaonline.gov.in/covid or contact 81320-11037, 84330-38716 or 97115-44148 between 9 am to 8 pm for registration process. “In exceptional circumstances, if an individual is unable to register as per mention above manual registration will be done at the entry points,” a statement on Monday said, warning of penalty if failed to register before entering the state.
The DC has also made it mandatory for returnees to download Corontine app of the state government or Aarogya Setu app.
The DC also said that people, who test negative during the arrival, will have to mandatorily undergo home quarantine for a 14-day period along with their family members. For people who test positive at the checkpoints, a confirmatory RT-PCR test will be done and the person testing positive will be kept under institutional quarantine.
For asymptomatic patients, the DC has made it mandatory for them to undergo home quarantine with the family members.
With regard to transportation facility, the DC has assured that the state government will make necessary arrangements, provided that the authorities are intimated through the registration process.
“In case some families desire to pick up returning family members from the airport/bus- station/railway station at Guwahati, one family member along with one driver can be allowed by the DC and it should be ensured that the family members, who will go to pick up the returnee(s), should not have any ailments. Vehicles should only stop for border screening and not at any other location,” the order said.
The order also said that the Community COVID Management Committees will provide necessary support to people under home quarantine. “Free provision kits under the Chief Minister’s Special Grants will be provided to all families under home quarantine,” the order said.
