Prohibitions, night curfew extended in EGH till July 20

TURA: East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Swapnil Tembe has extended the lockdown and night curfew in the entire district under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and the Regulation 3 of Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulation, 2020 till 5 AM of July 20.

As in earlier curfews, the order prohibits operations of weekly and regular markets, commercial, financial and educational institutions, movement of individuals between 9 PM and 5 AM and gathering of 5 or more persons in public places, movement of persons above 65 years of age with co-morbidities, pregnant women and children below the age of 10 years, etc.

The order issued in this regard also said that wearing of masks and maintaining social distance in public places and offices is compulsory.

As per the new order, shops in the district will now remain open from 8 AM to 2 PM and the movement of vehicles will be allowed on odd and even number rule. The order also added that Rongjeng and Williamnagar markets will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays
