EKH DC allows wine shops, bonded warehouses to function
SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Excise), on Tuesday directed wine shops and bonded warehouses to resume operations starting Wednesday. They have been directed to function from Monday to Saturday between 10am to 8pm. In a statement, the DC has also directed the wine shops and bonded warehouses to strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the government.
City school names top scorers
SHILLONG: With the declaration of All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) 2020, BK Bajoria School, Shillong, has announced the names of its top scorers. According to the school, Priyanshu Surana, from Arts stream, topped with an aggregate of 96.4 per cent while Bipasha Dhar and Tingjin Lesa Marak, both from Arts stream, followed him, scoring an aggregate of 94 per cent each. From the Science stream, both Ariana Gayle Kharsyntiew and Priyanshu Kumar Rai scored an aggregate of 91 per cent, while Parmanand Nigam from the Commerce stream scored an aggregate of 91 per cent. “A total of 149 students had appeared for the AISSCE 2020, out of which 143 passed with first division and six with second division,” the school said in a statement on Tuesday.
EGH extends night curfew
TURA: East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Swapnil Tembe, has extended the night curfew in the district till 5 am of July 20. As per the new order, shops in the district will now remain open from 8 am to 2 pm and the movement of vehicles will be allowed on odd-even number rule. The order also added that Rongjeng and Williamnagar markets will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays. As per earlier curfews, the order prohibits operations of weekly and regular markets, commercial, financial and educational institutions, movement of individuals between 9 pm and 5 am.
FEDCO call centre to reach headmen
SHILLONG: The Feedback Energy Distribution Co. Ltd (FEDCO) Meghalaya, in an effort to revamp consumer services amid downpour that has caused frequent disruption in the power supply, has decided to reach through its call centre to all village headmen falling under its preview. In a statement on Tuesday, the FEDCO said that it call centre located in Shillong is operating from 9am to 6pm from Mondays to Saturdays, so as to encourage the headmen to be in touch with the call centre for speedy redressal of consumer complaint.
