Cops’ efforts save abducted man

NONGSTOIN: A person, who was reportedly abducted by a group of masked men, was released on Monday, days after police jointly initiated rigorous search operations.
It may be mentioned that the man, viz. Rintu R Marak was reportedly abducted by masked men on July 9 from Ringdim village under Shallang Police Station, West Khasi Hills.
It was only after this the joint operations led by West Khasi Hills, South Garo Hills and East Garo Hills police teams were conducted in all the suspected areas for five consecutive days, defying the inclement weather.
On Tuesday, the East Garo Hills police was successful in arresting the gang, recovering cash and a two-wheeler, according to a police statement.
“The arrested gang has been handed over to West Khasi Hills Police for further investigation,” the statement added.
