SHILLONG: The Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) has decided not to go ahead with contact or non-contact sports in the state although individual training is allowed.
MSOA working president, John F Kharshiing, met Sports Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh to submit a report of the Meghalaya Games 2019-20.
Pinning hopes on a vaccine for COVID-19, Kharshiing told reporters here, “We discussed the future of sports in Meghalaya. We are helpless despite government nod to resume non-contact sports adhering to the SOP”.
“It is a challenge for the sports fraternity globally unless  there is a vaccine,” he said.
Ruing that indirect contact sports also come with conditions, he said the players can train individually without sharing equipment as per the SOP.
