Bodies of two drowned victims found in Garo Hills

TURA: The body of a youth who fell into the Pelga Dare waterfalls on the outskirts of Tura and another victim who drowned in North Garo Hills district were retrieved by search teams on Friday.

The 21 year old Tura youth, Nipha D Marak drowned when he fell into the Pelga waterfalls which was in spate on Thursday. The victim had visited the waterfall with friends to spend time when the tragedy occurred. He hailed from Dakopgre’s Ira Dighi locality and was the son of former sports officer Late A N Sharma.

Search and rescue teams from Fire and Emergency services of the state police along with state disaster rescue force frantically searched the waters throughout Thursday without success. His body was found downstream on Friday at a place called Chinbongre near Damalgre.

In North Garo Hills, a man reportedly suffering from psychological problems jumped off a bridge at Chidrang river in Resubelpara on Thursday. His body was retrieved on Friday.
